Titjikala is a Simpson Desert Aboriginal community located 100 km south-east from Alice Springs in Northern Territory, Australia. The road to the community is unsealed and travelling by four wheel drive is recommended.
Titjikala community is well known for its Aboriginal artists. Currently there are over 30 active indigenous artists living and painting, carving or sculpting at this community.
Population in this community is about 260 people, with 90% being Aboriginal Arrernte, Pitjantjatjara and Luritja people. Three indigenous languages are spoken as well as English (not fluent) in this community.
Titjikala has a general store, an indigenous arts centre, aged care program, women’s centre, school, health clinic, Centrelink agent, mechanical workshop and laundry.
There is no requirement for a permit to visit Titjikala community. Alcohol is banned.
